Journal Ten- Option #28

Even though Caesar had a aptitude for making himself liked, and a way of mixing with the commoners, his passion and quest to be made king was what made the commoners dislike him, and the commoners that already hated him were able to show their contempt and hatred for him. Their way of life was threatened, and therefore they needed to show disdain for what Caesar was doing in order for it to come to a halt. Caesar was a people pleaser, and he tried to put on acts to cater to them, and make them like him, but no matter what he did, it would have never been enough to make the commoners want and praise a monarchy, even with Caesar as king. The people had been subject to monarchies before, and seen the effects that they made on the city and the people themselves. They hated him because he wanted more power than he had already. Wanting more than you have, getting greedy was not a good thing for the commoners to see. They had loved him because he hadn't tired to take over, but was still doing all of these good deeds for the people, yet when they realized how he wanted to be king, they became livid, and didn't care for his friendship, because behind the friendship was a extremely power hungry man.
